The collector server compiles user usage information for all servers in the tree which are enrolled with Novell® License Metering Services. Any server can function as the collector server, but only one server at a time can do so.
Enter or browse to the server you want to be the collector server and then click the radio button. Requests for product usage information are directed to this server, which gathers the information from other servers on the network and relays the information to the workstation making the request. You should specify a collector server that can see all of the servers that you want to gather information from.
If you want to stop information from being collected by the indicated collector server, click the radio button. Requests for product usage information are directed to any available server, which gathers the information from other servers in the network and relays the information back to the workstation making the request. Usage information continues to accumulate on individual servers on the network.
In order to maintain an accurate list of servers enrolled with License Metering Services, each participating server periodically enrolls in the service. All servers in the tree perform this action. In order to enroll, each server searches the network for other servers in the same tree and records the location of other servers in the tree. Each found server exchanges a small amount of information with the searching server as part of the enrollment process.
Set the day and time of the week that you want usage information regularly sent to the collector server. Weekly is the preferred setting.
Set the number of days and hours between usage information updates being sent to the collector server. Selecting this option allows data to be sent less frequent than weekly, but does not give absolute control over the time of day that the information is sent.
You can enable or disable either SAP or SLP advertising for all participating servers by checking or unchecking the check boxes. This advertising affects only the usage information collection service. You cannot disable both advertising methods. Any server with local settings is not affected by this change.
Select Dynamic if you want all participating servers to use dynamic IP ports for any SPX sends and receives performed in conjunction with the usage information collection service. Select Static if you want to specify a port for either sending or receiving. You can still specify that either sends or receives use a dynamic port by using a port value of 0 in the appropriate box. Individual servers which have their own local settings are not affected by this change.
Note: The value must be entered in
decimal.
Select Dynamic if you want all participating servers to use dynamic IPX sockets for any SPX sends and receives performed in conjunction with the usage information collection service. Select Static if you want to specify a socket for either sending or receiving. You can still specify that either sends or receives use a dynamic socket by using a socket value of 0 in the appropriate box. Individual servers which have their own local settings are not affected by this change.
Note: The value must be entered in hex.
Enter the number of months to be included in the default date range ending with the current date and counting backwards. This can be changed when you generate a report.
